My Favorite Way to Travel

Grand Turk on Carnival Cruise Line

When I went on my first cruise back in 2013 and again in 2015, my co-worker declared that I was turning into one of “those people”. By “those people”, she meant folks who spend the majority of their vacation dollars on cruises. She was stereotyping me and all the people who love to sail the high seas, giving us a distinct set of characteristics that, in her mind, made us seem like a cult.

Whatever. I don’t mind cults. They have cool snacks and the meetings are lit.

No amount of shaming can come between me and my love of cruising. It is my favorite way to travel. Not that I don’t enjoy other ways. I do. But cruising is my favorite. Here are a few reasons why.

I love the ocean.

Return to the Sea

A few years ago, Carnival came out with a commercial featuring a moving speech by JFK. YA’LL! When I say this commercial and JFK’s words spoke to me, I mean I felt that ish in my spirit. Deep. That commercial is a perfect explanation of my connection to the sea. When I sit out on the balcony and gaze at the expansive water, it feeds my soul and brings me back to myself. No other type of vacation gives me that kind of spiritual experience.

Tons of stuff to do.

There’s a myth that cruise ships are boring places. They are not. There is always SOMETHING happening on a cruise ship that will pique your interest. Trivia contests. Shopping. Food. Line dancing. Exercise classes. Food. Poker tournaments. Comedy shows. Karaoke. And did I mention food? Whatever floats your boat (See what I did there?), cruise ships have it. You will not be bored. But if you like boredom, it won’t be hard to find a quiet place to yourself to relax either. There’s literally something for everyone.

Great value.

I’m not necessarily a bargain vacationer but I do enjoy receiving value for my dollars, and cruising is known for it’s value. It’s like an all-inclusive vacation on water. One price includes lodging, food, gratuities and most activities. Of course, there are plenty of opportunities to spend more if you want to, but the beauty of cruising is you don’t have to.

Ready for your next adventure?

If this kind of vacation experience sounds appealing to you, give me a call or drop me a line. I would love to put together an itinerary that not only helps you create lasting memories but brings you back to center. Besides, the cult could always use one more member.
