If 2022 has taught us anything, it’s that we can’t take anything for granted. We never know when the world will change, so making the most of every moment is important. So if you’re a wanderer at heart, here are some resolutions to help you make 2023 a year to remember.
Follow your heart – Sometimes, we all need a little reminder to follow our heart, especially when it comes to decisions about travel and adventure. It can be scary venturing out into the unknown but trust me. It’s always worth it in the end. So go ahead and book that ticket, take that detour, and do what you have to do to travel the world—you won’t regret it!
Make time for what matters most – This year, decide to prioritize the things that matter most—whether that means making more time for family and friends, spending more time outdoors, or finally taking that dream trip you’ve always wanted to go on. Whatever it is, make sure you allocate time in your schedule for the things that mean the most to you—you’ll be glad you did!
Get out of your comfort zone – One of the best ways to learn and grow is by pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Try something new, go someplace you’ve never been, or meet someone completely different from anyone you know. Getting stuck in a rut is easy, but you may find something amazing by venturing outside your comfort zone.
Learn a new language – If you want to immerse yourself in another culture, learning the local language is a great way to do it. Many resources are available to help you learn a new language, whether taking an online class or using a language-learning app like Duolingo. A basic understanding of the local language will make your travels much more enjoyable. Trust me. It’s worth the effort!
Live in the moment – It’s easy to get caught up in planning for the future or dwelling on the past, but it’s important to remember that the only moment we have for sure is right now. So make an effort to be present and enjoy the here and now, whether that means savoring a good cup of coffee or taking a stroll through your favorite park.
Be spontaneous – Life is full of surprises, both good and bad. But sometimes, the best moments are those we don’t see coming. Embrace spontaneity and say yes to things even when you don’t know what they may bring ahead of time. You may find yourself on an adventure you would never have experienced otherwise.
Authentic Experiences Only – When you travel, it can be tempting only to visit the most popular tourist spots. Still, if you want to have a truly authentic experience, it’s essential to venture off the beaten path and explore someplace new. So, in 2023, make it your goal to find those hidden gems that few tourists know about.
Be grateful for every experience—good and bad alike. It’s important to remember that even though not every travel experience will be perfect (some might be downright terrible), we should still find a way to be grateful for every one of them anyway. Because, without the bad experiences, we wouldn’t appreciate the good ones nearly as much! So whatever 2023 throws your way, remember—it’s all part of the adventure!
Keep a travel journal – There’s nothing like journaling to help us remember the special moments from our travels. This year, commit to keeping track of all your adventures, big and small, by writing them down in a travel journal (or even starting a blog!). You’ll be glad you did when you look back and see all you have accomplished!
Embrace your inner wanderer – This is probably the most important resolution: remember to embrace your inner wanderer! Don’t let anyone tell you that wanderlust is terrible—it makes life interesting and exciting! So resolve to wander often in 2023…and beyond!
The New Year is a perfect time for reflection—and for setting resolutions for improvement in the coming year. For wanderers, this may mean vowing to be more spontaneous with our travels or following our hearts. Whatever your resolutions, I wish you the best in achieving them in 2023! In fact, I’d like to propose a toast… Here’s to making 2023 a year full of new adventures, cherished memories, and many spontaneous moments. Cheers!
